Alpine Garden

Patrick Seymour Alpine Garden

One of the largest alpine gardens in North America (five acres), this garden contains many plants adapted to grow above the treeline of mountains. Many of the earliest spring bloomers can be found here, including in the recently renovated Connie’s Secret Garden at the north end of the Alpine Garden.

The Alpine Garden is named after Patrick Seymour (1928-2009), Director of the Garden from 1971-1996. Much of the U of A Botanic Garden was developed under his direction and influence.
