Andrea Kastner, a graduate of the University of Alberta Department of Art and Design (MFA Painting 2012), has been selected as a finalist for the 14th annual RBC Canadian Painting Competition. The fifteen finalists were chosen from more than 500 candidates by a jury of prominent artists, gallery directors and curators, administered by the Canadian Art Foundation. The competition will award one national winner with a purchase prize of $25,000 and two honourable mentions with prizes of $15,000.
All fifteen finalists' paintings will be on exhibit at the Power Plant in Toronto, and winners will be announced on November 29, 2012. This competition recognizes and supports Canada's emerging artists, within the first five years of their professional art career.
