This week the Minister of Advanced Education granted formal approval for the long awaited PhD program in the History of Art, Design and Visual Culture.
Complemented by the existing Interdisciplinary PhD, which allows students in other areas of research to minor in art history, the new program provides an opportunity to focus directly on art historical interests in post-graduate research. This is the only PhD program of its kind available throughout the prairies, and provides a unique and much needed expansion of choices to Canadians, and to those wanting to study in Canada.
A tip of the hat is due to professors Betsy Boone and Lianne McTavish, who among others were instrumental in bringing the program to fruition.
