Dr. Claudio Aporta, an associate professor at Carleton University's Department of Sociology and Anthropology, has been named the Fulbright Visiting Research Chair in Canadian Studies at the University of Washington. In addition, Carleton will host two distinguished Fulbright scholars from the United States. Aporta will spend six months in Seattle, from January to July 2012, conducting research on a project entitled, The Northwest passage and the construction of Inuit pan-Arctic Identities. Dr. Aporta, an Argentinian-Canadian who completed his PhD studies at the University of Alberta in 2003, will examine a network of trails that are believed to have linked Inuit communities across the North American Arctic.
