The Alberta Land Institute sponsors and conducts research to support and enhance land use policy in Alberta. Our key areas of interest are:
Ecosystem Service Markets
Researching existing policies that both support and challenge the development of ecosystem service markets in Alberta will facilitate policy development in this area.
Sustainable Agriculture: Soil Health
Research will highlight how the current regulatory and policy environment facilitates or hinders sustainable agriculture which impacts the quality of soils in the province.
Land Use, Resilience, and Environmental Risk
In response to growing rates of disaster related property loss, research is needed to improve resilience in Alberta's communities through better planning, regulation and decision-making.
