Graduate Writing Sprints

Weekly Drop-in Sessions

Date & Time: Tuesday 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Location: Rutherford 2-116

The Ready, Set, Write program is designed to help graduate students establish effective writing habits. This program provides a structured setting where students can discover their individual writing styles and gain insights from their peers. A fundamental element of the program is the clear separation between the acts of writing and revising, which allows students to concentrate on expressing their ideas clearly before shaping them.

To encourage steady progress, we advocate for daily writing goals, such as achieving 200-word sprints. This approach helps students build momentum in their writing practice. Additionally, the program offers a supportive community where participants can discuss their research and writing hurdles. Accountability partnerships are also a part of the program, providing motivation and support.

Key takeaways from the Ready, Set, Write program, include:

  • The importance of distinguishing writing from editing
  • The benefits of setting achievable daily goals
  • The value of a supportive writing community.

By participating in this program, graduate students can expect to enhance their writing skills and increase their productivity.
