WISEST at 40 Celebration
Dreams Fulfilled – Dreams to Build
For 40 years, WISEST has been transforming the face of STEM at the University of Alberta (and beyond) – fulfilling dreams for some, and enabling dreams to come true for others. Championed by the inspiring Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour for over three decades, WISEST has continued to pioneer in STEM outreach by educating, engaging, and equipping thousands of students - helping them overcome barriers in their journey to success in STEM.
We celebrated with a wonderful event held at Telus World of Science Edmonton (TWOSE) on Saturday, October 15. With over 100 people in attendance including senior leaders from the U of A, government officials, donors, sponsors, and alumni from its programming WISEST looked back on the past 40 years, honoured its founder Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour, celebrated its thousands of volunteers, and looked forward to the future. Thank you to the Volunteer Committee responsible for planning, and all their hard work, creativity, and commitment - Kathy, Shirley, Samantha, Hannah, and Hope. Thank you also to the WISEST External Relations Committee who through their efforts and networks secured sponsorship for the event. Thank you to Joseph, Mandy, Lisa, Sandra, Amanda, Amy, Kim, Camille, and Anna.
WISEST gratefully recognizes the generosity and financial support for this event.
