Google Sheets

Google Sheets Level 1

Google Sheets allows you to easily create and share spreadsheets with others from one place. No more tedious uploading a sheet everytime there's a change, or trying to keep track of who changed what when! In this course, we'll focus on key features to use within a shared spreadsheet: conditional formatting, data validation, drop-down menus within cells and data filtering. We will then teach you the basic unique features of Google spreadsheets such as: comments vs. notes, list view, custom change notifications, protecting sheets and assigning different access permissions to sheets within a spreadsheet. We will also include information on consideration when converting to and from Excel.

Custom training is also available - email training@ualberta.ca for details.

Google Sheets Level 2

Google Sheets is a powerful tool for manipulating data in real-time and from any device. In this course, we’ll build on the skills learned in the Level 1, with the goal of learning how to manipulate your data through the use of basic and intermediate functions. Learn how to write functions, reference cells and ranges, and troubleshoot formulae. Then, discover ways of adjusting how the data is formatted and presented, while including hyperlinks, images, and visualizations alongside it. Finally, sort your data into different presentations, so you can always find the exact information you, or your collaborators, need to see.
