Sociology
Combines the rigour of a scientific discipline with a concern for social relevance. As a Sociology student, you will study social life, social change, and the social causes and consequences of human behaviour. Sociologists investigate the structure of groups, organizations, and societies and how people interact within these contexts. "Since all human behaviour is social, the subject matter of sociology ranges from the intimate family to the hostile mob; from organized crime to religious traditions; from the divisions of race, gender and social class, to the shared beliefs of a common culture" (American Sociological Association (2009: p. 5). This deeper understanding of society will lead you to an improved understanding of social issues and how they might be better addressed through enlightened and effective social policy.
