The Faculty of Education is widely recognized nationally and internationally for its outstanding graduate programs and regularly attracts students from around the world. Doctoral students from Secondary Education programs have been highly successful in winning prestigious Killam and SSHRC doctoral fellowships during their programs and in gaining academic appointments in leading universities following graduation. Students enrolled in graduate programs at the master's and doctoral level express very high levels of satisfaction.

Our Program

Led by internationally renowned scholars, programs in Secondary Education offer classes, seminars, discussion groups and supervision which provide graduate students with extensive opportunities to engage in thoughtful and critical scholarship into curriculum and pedagogy.

We offer programs leading to the Master of Education (MEd), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), and Doctor of Education (EdD). Graduate instruction in these programs develops scholarship and inquiry in curriculum theory and pedagogical subject specific disciplines. Graduate programs typically involve advanced study in one or more of the following areas:
