Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund

The Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund (TLEF) at the University of Alberta is designed to enhance the educational landscape by supporting innovative projects that aim to improve teaching and learning. In alignment with the University’s strategic plan, SHAPE, TLEF invites educators to push the boundaries of traditional teaching methods by investigating current practices, implementing new pedagogical strategies, or exploring creative approaches in digital spaces. Embrace this opportunity through the TLEF to build on your existing commitment to educational innovation and make an even greater difference in the way we teach and learn at the University of Alberta.

By participating in the TLEF, educators have the opportunity to create lasting impacts on the academic community through their pedagogical innovations and investigations. This fund encourages the development of novel and impactful teaching practices that not only enhance the learning experience for students but also contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in education. Whether it's through transformative projects that reshape entire programs or smaller, innovative experiments that explore new teaching methods, the TLEF is dedicated to supporting the visionary ideas of U of A academic staff.

A person may only hold one active TLEF Grant at a time as the principal applicant.

TLEF innovation projects

TLEF Innovation Projects focus on experimenting with new pedagogical approaches that have the potential to enhance learning. These projects align with SHAPE and are typically smaller in scope and scale than the transformation initiatives allowing for more exploration and experimentation with emerging methods to support teaching and learning.

We welcome submissions that either examine current teaching practices or start projects that introduce new teaching methods and pedagogies.
