Funding
Graduate students in Nursing are strongly encouraged to be prepared to self-fund their studies as guaranteed funding is not available.
The Faculty of Nursing has funding for a limited number of graduate research and teaching assistantships. Postings for these positions are shared with current students as they become available and students apply to supervising faculty members for consideration for these positions.
Some graduate supervisors may be able to provide funding through external grants that support their research projects. Graduate supervisors will also assist students to apply for funding from sources that are appropriate to the student’s program of studies and level of academic achievement.
The University of Alberta has a significant award and funding program for graduate students, with awards offered both by the faculty and the university. Generous donors and sponsors make it possible to offer awards to graduate students in the Faculty of Nursing. Scholarships and awards are by competitive application. Please consult the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research for additional information about scholarships and awards .
Graduate students may also apply for bursaries and loans based on financial need. More information on bursaries and loans can be found on FGSRs Financial Support page, as well as additional resources for International students on FGSRs website and the International Student Services website.
The Government of Canada is also a possible resource for International scholarship opportunities for non-Canadians .
