Our Program - MACT

Starts: May
Fulfillment: 10 courses + capstone research project
Format: blended & online courses

The curriculum for the course-based program MA in Communications and Technology includes seven mandatory core courses. Coursework covers small-group and organizational communication; the theory, history, and practice of information and communications technologies; and the research skills associated with analyzing and evaluating these technologies, particularly as they are managed and used in the workplace. In addition, students complete three electives which can be taken at any time during the program (except during the first and second spring institutes).

The MACT program is designed as a part-time, course-based program delivered through a blended arrangement of online (65%) and classroom-based (35%) courses. Students wishing to take the program in a full-time format may choose the optional full-time schedule. Both part time and full time options can be completed in two years. A detailed schedule of required and elective courses for both the part-time and full-time program options is available here: MACT program class schedule

A small number of students may be considered for the thesis route after admission to the MACT program. Applications may be made in the summer after completion of the first spring institute. Students should consult with their academic advisor prior to applying.

Core courses are offered in spring, fall and winter terms. Electives are offered in summer, fall and winter terms. However, students are not required to register into any courses during summer term.
