Danielle Peers

Congratulations to Dr. Danielle Peers who was granted tenure and promoted to Associate Professor following review by the Faculty Evaluation Committee (FEC). This promotion will be effective on July 1, 2021.

Val Carson

Behavioural epidemiologist Valerie Carson acknowledged for the second year in a row for her work to get children moving more, sitting less and sleeping well.

Valerie's research leading to the creation of the Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for children has earned her a spot on a global list of the most highly cited researchers in their fields. Carson is one of six U of A researchers to make the list this year

Graduate Students - Zachary Fielding, Myriam Filion & Stephanie Ktoukas

Congratulations to both Zachary, Myriam and Stephanie for being awarded the new Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship that recognizes the outstanding academic achievement of students pursuing graduate studies in Alberta. It was established to incent the best and the brightest students, including international students, to study in Alberta.

Stephanie Ktoukas has also be awarded the Ewen Nelson Memorial Award

Mark Korthius - 07' BARST alumni, Bears Soccer Player and Former KSR Staff member in Advancement 

Current President and CEO, Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation, Mark Korthius named to Edifty’s Top 40 under 40 for 2020. After soccer, Korthuis became more invested in the charitable sector and used his own journey with mental health in his quest to help others. He took over the Mental Health Foundation in 2016. Last month, he was named president and CEO of the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation. Read more
