Thesis Title: The Line: Documentary Research Creation and the Ethics of Care
Bio: For my Master’s in Gender & Social Justice, I made a documentary film and companion paper on the marginalized community of people who sort Edmontonian’s garbage. That film had two sold out socially distanced premiere screenings and is now entering the (mostly online) film festival circuit. From January to June of 2019, I was a Research Assistant for Dr. Michelle Meagher for her SSHRC-funded “Visualising Feminist Networks” project. I researched feminist publications of the past to determine their interconnections, and visualized the data using NodeXL. From spring through fall of 2018, I co-facilitated a co-ed philosophy reading club at Fort Saskatchewan Correctional Centre, a medium-security prison. I produced videos for the departments of Education and Women’s & Gender Studies. I have recently been hired to do part-time film production work for Dr. Chloë Taylor, a professor of philosophy and women’s & gender studies at the University of Alberta. I will be helping her create visually engaging content for online courses she is designing.
