Congratulations to WGS's Dr. Emilia Nielsen for winning a 2016-2017 Canada Council for the Arts Grant for her new poetry project entitled Tributaries. Emilia's move from coastal British Columbia to the aspen parkland of Edmonton provides the impetus for this new creative project that will focus on the precarious nature of freshwater ecosystems. Tributaries seeks to explore colonial settler responsibility in the project of decolonizing place writing and situates Edmonton's Mill Creek Ravine as a key site to explore these issues.
