The Department of Women's and Gender Studies at the University of Alberta invites applications for a 12-month full time contract academic staff position to commence on July 1, 2014. Major responsibilities will include the teaching of 7 courses over three semesters (fall, winter, and spring). Teaching duties will include: multiple sections of WGS 201 (Introduction to Women's Studies), WGS 320 (Popular Culture/ Feminist Culture), WGS 460 (Masculinities), and a 400 level class on a topic of the CAST's scholarly expertise. The Faculty Lecturer will also be required to perform departmental service, with specific duties to be determined in consultation with the Chair of the department.
A Ph.D. in Women's and Gender Studies or a related field at or near completion is required. Applicants should demonstrate excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. Experience teaching in the field of Women's and Gender Studies is an asset.
