Choices Conference

Would you like to help show girls and gender-diverse students in Grade 6 that science is fun, interesting and a career field where they can excel? Volunteers are fundamental to the success of the CHOICES Conference, so come have a fun and rewarding experience over Reading Week by sharing your passion for science or engineering with 600 grade six students! Volunteer opportunities are open now!

Science Activity Volunteers

Who: Undergraduate, graduate and PhD students, researchers, lab coordinators, industry professionals.

When: February 19 & 20, 2025 (In-Person), February 21, 2025 (Virtual)

What: This is your chance to help deliver a hands-on lab activity for grade 6 girls and gender-diverse students. Activities should be interactive, engaging and fun! This is an excellent opportunity for you to share your science, engineering or technology interests with the students and to have a positive influence on a group of students who are at a critical point in their educational pathway. Scientific Activity Leaders must communicate with WISEST regularly while coordinating activities and must complete online safety training prior to the CHOICES Conference. There will be an opportunity to present a hands-on activity virtually on February 21, 2025 to rural schools.

We welcome creative new ideas for scientific activities through the proposal form below. Please note, while we appreciate the offer to create a new activity, we are limited in the number of new activities we can support.  We can also provide volunteers with activities used at past CHOICES Conferences and offer to train them.
