U of A for Tomorrow Updates: September 24, 2020
24 September 2020
Here are the key U of A for Tomorrow updates from this week:
Upcoming Town Halls: Academic Restructuring & SET
On September 30, join President Bill Flanagan and Provost Steven Dew for a town hall on Academic Restructuring. The town hall will provide all members of the U of A community with a chance to share feedback on the Academic Restructuring Working Group’s interim report and the three proposed faculty scenarios.
On October 6, join President Flanagan, Provost Steven Dew, and SET Executive Lead Rob Munro for a town hall dedicated to the administrative restructuring initiative, Service Excellence Transformation (SET). Learn more about the SET progress to-date, hear how SET aligns with academic restructuring, review upcoming activities and important timelines, and ask your questions and provide feedback.
Interim Report of the Academic Restructuring Working Group (ARWG)
The ARWG released its interim report to the U of A community. The report presents three scenarios for academic restructuring at the U of A for consultation and feedback. Your input now is critical before the ARWG continues to move forward in the process.
UAT Staff Advisory Team Meeting
The orientation meeting for the 40-member Staff Advisory Team took place on September 21 and included a welcome from President Flanagan, team introductions and a comprehensive overview on the progress on the U of A for Tomorrow (UAT) initiative. The Staff Advisory Team has already asked a number of great questions, so at the next meeting on October 6, we will spend time responding to these questions and discussing the next stages of academic and administrative restructuring in more detail.
UAT Faculty & Staff Pulse Survey
On September 23, the second monthly UAT Faculty & Staff Pulse Survey was sent out to a random sample of 700 faculty and staff from across the university. These surveys consist of a short set of questions that are being sent out monthly to check-in and take the pulse of our university community during this time of academic and administrative transformation. Take a look at what faculty and staff had to say in last month’s pulse survey.
Ongoing Consultations
We want to make sure that we communicate, engage with and respond to faculty and staff as much as possible throughout the UAT transformation. Your feedback is critical to academic and administrative restructuring, so we encourage you to share your insights through one (or more) of the avenues for consultation.
