The Career Portal is live!
27 March 2024
The career portal is the central place for all hiring managers and their delegates to view their specific job postings and for potential candidates to view opportunities and submit applications. The portal has recently been updated to address some system limitations of the aging Recruitment and Advertising Database (RAD). Planning is underway to replace RAD with Oracle Recruitment under the CASIP program.
What’s changing for hiring managers?
The main change is that the updated career portal has a new url - https://apps.ualberta.ca/careers.
Tip: Bookmark this page for quick access to your hiring manager dashboard! You can also find the link to the career portal through the University of Alberta’s Human Resources, Health, Safety & Environment website under Managing > Recruitment.
Also, access to the career portal is limited to hiring managers with active job postings and their delegates.
What can a hiring manager do in the updated career portal?
After you log into the portal with your CCID, you can:
- Access your personal dashboard to view the status of job postings that the Talent Acquisition team in Shared Services posted to the University’s career page for you. If any job posting requires modification, contact the Staff Service Centre.
- View the applications that have been submitted for your job posting.
Tip: The Talent Acquisition team will download and save resumes in the designated recruitment folder that was created for you when the job posting was posted. If you choose to view and download applications from the career portal on your own, save the records in the appropriate folder that Shared Services created for the posting. For more information, review the Recruitment Folder Process Snapshot.
For guidance on how to use the career portal, review the Instructional Guide for Hiring Managers.
Is anything changing for prospective candidates?
Other than a slightly updated look to the portal, the process to search for and submit applications in the career portal remains the same for prospective candidates… but stay tuned! The university will soon be launching a brand new career landing page as a gateway to the career portal. This new page aims to connect prospective candidates to essential resources, including insights into the university’s culture, as well as key initiatives, resources and benefits of joining the university. Watch for more communication on this initiative in April.
