Apply for Sustainability Scholars
Sustainability Scholars supports University of Alberta graduate students as they work on applied sustainability research projects with project partners in and around Edmonton. From early May to mid-August, successful applicants work with professional mentors on projects benefiting the sustainability of their host organization and our community. Projects vary in length, from 25-35 hours per week.
Applications are now closed for 2024.
You may apply for a maximum of 3 Sustainability Scholars positions, and you will not be able to work more than one position.
Applications consist of a professional resume (1-2 pages) and a cover letter. We strongly recommend you tailor your cover letter to each position.
After reviewing this year's internship postings, apply for the positions of your choice using the campusBRIDGE job portal.
Masters and PhD students in any discipline may apply. Applicants must:
- Be enrolled as a graduate student (full-time or part-time) at the University of Alberta, with a last term no earlier than Winter 2024.
- Be available to work the advertised number of hours of each posting, attend an orientation session, and publicly present their work at the end of the placement.
- If the student currently holds another paid position with the University and intends to keep this position while working the Sustainability Scholars position, they may never work more than 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week in both positions combined due to University rules around overtime work.
- If you hold another paid position and are interested in Sustainability Scholars, you are encouraged to reach out to Shannon Heaney (sheaney1@ualberta.ca) to confirm your eligibility.
