Catholicism & Repentance: A multi-disciplinary panel reflecting on the theme of repentance.

The Crossroads Speaker Series, jointly held by St. Joseph’s College (U of A) and St. Mary’s University, invites you to an open discussion on repentance and Catholicism. The panel of experts from various disciplines will engage with one another and attendees from the standpoint of their varied perspectives. This topic is important for a variety of reasons – faith, social realities, justice, religious practice – and will be a vibrant conversation relevant to both Catholics and others alike.

Panelists:

Sr. Zoe Bernatsky
Dr. Bernatsky is Assistant Professor of Moral, Spiritual, and Pastoral Theology at Newman Theological College in Edmonton. With extensive background in Catholic moral teaching, Dr. Bernatsky brings this expertise to questions of healthcare in Canada and issues of faith and culture.

Dr. Christopher Hyrnkow
Dr. Hyrnkow is Professor and Department Head of Religion and Culture, and Director of the Centre for Faith, Reason, Peace, and Justice at St. Thomas More College (U of S) in Saskatoon. Dr. Hyrnkow has published widely on issues of the environment, peace and justice, and Catholic social thought. His work explores the intersections of practical moral issues with Catholic theology.

Dr. Doris Kieser
Dr. Kieser is Associate Professor of Theology at St. Joseph’s College (U of A) in Edmonton. A certified counsellor, Dr. Kieser’s work explores issues of sexuality, feminist theology, moral theology, bioethics, and Catholic theology. She has published widely in academic journals and a groundbreaking monograph with Wilfred Laurier University Press titled, Catholic Sexual Theology and Adolescent Girls.

Dr. Nick Olkovich
Dr. Olkovich is Assistant Professor and Marie Ann Blondin Chair of Catholic Theology at St. Mark’s College in Vancouver. An expert in Bernard Lonergan, Dr. Olkovich is interested in issues of ethics, politics, and religion in democracies. He has published widely on these topics and other areas in political theology.
