In June of this year, SJC welcomed Philip Stack as Chief Administrative Officer of the College. Philip comes with a wealth of experience and knowledge of the academic environment in general, as well as of SJC's specific role within the University of Alberta.
Philip is on a one-year secondment from his regular position as Associate Vice-President of Risk Management Services at the University of Alberta. As CAO of the College, he will oversee all aspects of administration, planning and budgeting.
Philip's association with the College dates back to his days as an undergraduate Arts student when he could often be found studying in the Student Lounge and attending Mass in the Chapel. In the summer of 1987, Philip joined the staff at St. Joseph's College as the first Director of Summer Residence. His primary role was to market the availability of the men's residence during the summer in an effort to generate revenue for the College. In that first summer of operations rooms were rented for $7 per day and $49 per week. Philip returned in the summer of 1988 to again run the summer residence program.
Throughout the years Philip and his family have maintained their association with the College through their ongoing attendance at the Chapel. More recently, Philip served on the College's Board of Governors and its Finance Committee as the University of Alberta representative.
