St Joseph's College is partnering with Bethlehem University to offer a new 3-credit scripture course (CHRTC 203) in Bethlehem, Palestine during the Spring 2018 term. To prepare prospective U of A students and the College for this once in a lifetime learning opportunity, St Joseph's College is honored to have Rabbi Daniel Friedman and Rabbi Arik Ascherman offer their response to the statement, "When I think of Bethlehem..."

Rabbi Arik Ascherman is the former President and Chief Rabbi of Rabbis for Human Rights. He is currently director of Torat Tzedek (Torah of Justice). His life has been dedicated to working for Tikkun Olam ('co-creation') through social justice and protection of society's most vulnerable populations. He has won numerous international awards for his courage and commitment to non-violence.

Rabbi Daniel Friedman will address the historical relationship between Christianity and Judaism and the difference in contemporary perspectives on the place of Israel and the Jewish people in North American Christian theology versus Bethlehem theology.
