In this talk, Fr. McNerney will outline how the wealth of nations is ultimately the wealth of persons who create and sustain them. The common cry of 'inequality' is not one that necessarily demands a response. Rather, the fundamental equality of persons who cannot be valued in purely economic terms is one which sets us out on a path that promotes 'a sustainable and equitable development within the context of a broader concept of quality of life' (Laudato Si, n.192).
Fr. John McNerney is a Professor of Philosophy and former Chaplain at the University College Dublin, Ireland
