St. Kateri, Pray for Us!

You are invited to join us on Tuesday, October 18, at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph's College to hear from Sister Kateri Mitchell, who is responsible for the Vatican-approved miracle that made Blessed Kateri into Saint Kateri.

One of the pressing pastoral issues facing the Catholic Church is finding a way to address the conclusions of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC). St. Kateri Tekakwitha offers the Church a way to engage the findings of the TRC and the potential to forge a new relationship with First Nations peoples.

You are invited to join us on Tuesday, October 18, at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph's College (11325 - 89th Avenue, University of Alberta), to hear from Sister Kateri Mitchell, who is responsible for the Vatican-approved miracle that made Blessed Kateri into Saint Kateri, and restored an ailing boy to his family.

Because residential schools deeply wounded First Nations families by separating children from their parents, participants will be invited to say a prayer of thanksgiving for their own families, and with the intercession of St. Kateri, to pray for the healing of First Nations families wounded by residential schools. Participants are encouraged to bring a photocopy of a family photo to place on a cross.

In preparation for this event, please read the introduction (pages 1-22) to Honouring the Truth, Reconciling for the Future: Summary of the Final Report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.

This is a free event; however, seating is limited. For more information contact Father Glenn McDonald at glenn.mcdonald@ualberta.ca or by phone at: 780-492-4683.
