Members of our department featured prominently in the annual Canadian Sociological Association awards announced at Congress in Ottawa last week.
Dominique Clément received the 2009 John Porter Memorial Book Prize for his 2008 book, Canada's Rights Revolution: Social Movements and Social Change, 1937-1982 (Vancouver: UBC Press). The Porter Prize recognizes outstanding published scholarly contributions within the "John Porter tradition" in the advancement of sociological knowledge in Canada. Dr. Clément will present the Porter Lecture at the 2010 Annual Meeting of the Canadian Sociological Association.
Harvey Krahn received the 2009 Outstanding Contributions Award. This award recognizes individuals who have significantly contributed to the discipline of sociology in Canada over the course of their career.
