When our brain, spinal cord, and nerves (the nervous system) do not work properly, the consequences for quality of life are devastating. Sadly, dysfunction and injury to the nervous system are far too common and are only increasing with our aging population. The only approach to finding effective ways to prevent or reverse the effects of these devastating conditions is through the coordinated efforts of multidisciplinary research teams who are working to develop truly transformative approaches to improving health. This is where research in the Neuroscience and Mental Health Institute (NMHI) comes in.
The NMHI facilitates connections between talented researchers across the University of Alberta to forge collaborations, offer financial support, and help accelerate discoveries into better treatment options.
