The evening will include video highlights from the original production of the play Hold These Truths, which was performed at the University of Alberta in May, 2022. The play is a dramatic account of former University of Alberta Sociology professor Dr. Gordon Hirabayashi, and the principled stand he took against racism during World War II. Playwright Jeanne Sakata, actor Kevin Takahide Lee, and director Melanie Dreyer-Lude will participate in a panel discussion following the screening to discuss some of the critical topics addressed in the play, including racism and human rights.
