COVID-19: What Have Language, Communication and Culture Got To Do With It?
A VIRtual Exchange of Stimulating Studies (VIRESS)
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about considerable change to many aspects of our lives, including our research lives. This VIRtual Exchange of Stimulating Studies (VIRESS) is an opportunity to discuss research ideas about the role of language, communication, and culture in the COVID-19 pandemic from interpersonal, intercultural, and organizational perspectives.
Here’s how it works:
Please RSVP to the event by May 29, 2020. There are two late afternoon time slots available, on Monday June 22 and Tuesday June 23. When you RSVP, please indicate which of these (or both) work for you.
Depending on the number of participants and on your availability, you will be notified in which of the two time slots you will be participating.
VIRESS participants will have 3 minutes to summarize a pandemic-related research report, news article, opinion piece, or other publication that they found intriguing or inspiring from a research perspective, followed by 2 minutes for questions, comments and suggestions for how “someone” (possibly the presenter and/or interested participants) could conduct a study on that issue. If you would like to use slides, 1 page would be fine. If you are not using slides, please be sure to share the link to the paper with us in the RSVP form.
After these presentations, participants will have the opportunity to discuss research ideas in small groups.
