Amandeep Garcha
Doctor of Pharmacy, PharmD
"Pharmacists are essential players in the health-care system. We are easily accessible to the public and our scope is continuously expanding. Alberta is a great province to pursue pharmacy. I have been extremely fulfilled with the experience I have had out in practice thus far. I genuinely believe this is a career where you can help people.”
Amandeep Garcha is a former vice-president academic of the Alberta Pharmacy Students' Association (APSA) and is graduating from the doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) program.
The biggest challenge Amandeep faced during her program was balancing school, her personal life, and the added stress of the pandemic. Staying motivated and focused while attending school remotely full-time, in isolation, without her peers proved difficult.
However, this experience left her with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the power of social interaction.
Amandeep will be working at a local pharmacy chain in the city, as well as doing part-time rural relief. Working at more than one pharmacy was something she valued to upkeep her therapeutic knowledge by not being confined to one particular demographic.
