Celebrating Staff: Erik Berglund
6 December 2021
Erik Berglund, Educational Instructional Design Specialist and eLearning Support Team for Undergraduate Programs, has been improving the learning environment for nursing students and supporting instructors since 2017.
Hear more about his work, including what he loves most about supporting the Faculty of Nursing.
What does a typical day of work look like for you?
Depends very much on current projects going on and what time of year but answering emails, checking the shared eLearning inbox, working on the Nurse Practitioner online modules if needed, currently working on updating old instructor facing documents that we have, assisting with the Continuing Professional Education courses if need, and just any other special projects that may have come up.
What’s the most common question people ask you about your role?
I do not think there is a specific question I get asked, but probably the most common revolve around eClass and how to do something within it or to double-check to make sure something was done correctly.
Where is your favourite spot on campus?
Probably the lower level cafeteria in CAB. Not because it is the nicest place but because it was always the space where I would meet up with my friends between classes.
What is one thing your colleagues don’t know about you?
I am sure that people can infer it from my background during Zoom calls but I collect and build LEGO. Also a big fan of the book series and the show, The Expanse.
What do you enjoy most about working at the Faculty of Nursing?
What I enjoy most about working at the Faculty of Nursing is the team that I get to work with and just generally the people that I interact with on a daily basis. I also really enjoy that I am able to help improve the learning environment for students that they experience while doing their program.
