Join Fabio Morabito in a conversation with Jamie Meyers-Riczu (Carleton University) about Selling Black Gold: Audiovisual Mediations of Alberta’s Petroculture, a research project which investigates the crucial role of energy in shaping who we are and how we live. Drawing from the fields of petrocultures and cultural geography, Meyers-Riczu considers the ways audiovisual media create and perpetuate Alberta’s oil culture, how music and sound add to the persuasiveness of such media, and the consequences images and sounds of place have on cultural production.
There is no charge to attend. Reception to follow (U of A faculty, staff, students and invited guests).
