James Currie (University at Buffalo, State University of New York) is a writer and performer whose work has explored eighteenth-century music, queer life, and disciplinarity, including in important texts like Music and the Politics of Negation (2012) and the article “Music After All.” For this session of Questions about Music, Dr. Currie will be in conversation with Drs. Fabio Morabito and Patrick Nickleson to explore how a scholarly life can work, in and outside of conventional academia.
For those interested in exploring Dr. Currie’s work in advance, a non-required reading can be found AT THIS LINK.
There is no charge to attend. Reception to follow (U of A faculty, staff, students and invited guests).
This talk will be live-streamed as part of the Questions about Music Colloquium Series. For more information, email: quamusic@ualberta.ca
