The graduate program in Religious Studies has successfully placed three Ph.D. grads in permanent, tenure-track academic positions over three years: Clay Bench, Vaia Touna, and Ian Wilson. Ian Wilson has been hired in a very prestigious, public, and permanent academic position as the Director of the Chester Ronning Centre for Religion and Public Life at Augustana Campus, replacing David Goa. His presence there will mean a major boost for the Religious Studies program at University of Alberta in a number of areas, especially outreach and public programming.
"With only 3 full-time faculty, Religious Studies is again punching well above its weight academically. I think that this amply demonstrates the quality of our program and of our Ph.D. grads," says Director of Religious Studies, Andrew Gow.
Congratulations to all of the graduates and to Religious Studies.
