Thursday, October 20th “The archaeology of Athenian religion in the 7th century BCE.

Michael Laughy, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Classics at Washington and Lee University in Virginia, received his PhD from the University of California, Berkley in 2010 with a dissertation titled Ritual and Authority in Early Athens. He has been a participant in the American excavations in the Athenian Agora for many years, most recently as a Senior Field Supervisor. His publications include a co-authored paper on the 'Areopagus Oval Building' in Athens and a paper intriguingly titled "Confessions of a Punk Rock Archaeologist”.


The next lecture “Daniel in the lion’s den: martyrdom and iconography in Roman North Africa” will be on Thursday, November 24th by Angela Kalinowski from the University of Saskatchewan.
