On May 8, family, friends, and colleagues joined the Faculty of Arts award winners at this annual celebration. The event was emceed by special guest Adam Sweet ('07 BA), Senior Advisor to the President, Strategy and Policy at the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation.

Once again, The Department of History & Classics was well represented. Thank you to all those in the Faculty of Arts and the presenters for putting on such an enjoyable evening. Congratulations to all the award winners! The full list is available here.

The Roger S Smith Undergraduate Student Researcher Award in the Faculty of Arts will provide undergraduate students in the Faculty of Arts with an opportunity to receive $5000 to cover 15 weeks of research.

Cécile E. Mactaggart Travel Award for Narrative Writing

Selina Stewart

Winning entry titled "A Hallowe'en Meditation"

Selina plans to use her prize money for a trip to Europe with her two daughters to introduce them to relatives and teach them a bit of family, and other, history.

Katy Mackay

An outstanding instructor who brings humour and enthusiasm, as well as innovative ideas, to the teaching of the foundational courses in the Classics program.

Students have commented that it is "a joy and a privilege" to be instructed by her and that she is "easily the best prof" they've ever had.

A faculty lecturer who teaches Latin, Greek and Classics courses.
