After the continued success of the yearly coin raffle, which helps to raise funds for such events as our annual graduate student conference, the HCGSA (History and Classics Graduate Students' Association) have decided to raffle off another ancient coin. This year will also include a second and third prize (See also attached posters):
1st Prize: Silver Hemidrachm of Parion, Mysia from the 4th c. BC
Obverse: Gorgon Head
Reverse: Bull standing left and looking back.
2nd Prize: Peterson's Magazine Book, 1859
Contains: 452 pages concerning fashion, sewing, songs and stories + 12 colour plates and numerous engravings
3rd Prize: Homemade Leather Satchel made by John Manderscheid
First place winner will be able to choose the prize that they want. Tickets can be purchased Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am-3pm and Tuesday from 10am-1pm at the W.G. Hardy Classics Museum (Tory 2-89) or by contacting Amber Latimer at: latimer2@ualberta.ca
