WS Buchanan Scholarship

Awarded annually to a graduate student of outstanding merit. In even-numbered years it will be awarded to a student in the Department of History and Classics. In odd-numbered years it will be awarded to a student in the Department of English and Film Studies. Part-time students are eligible for this award.
Senator Donald Cameron Graduate Scholarship
Endowed by Frank W Peers as a tribute to Senator Donald Cameron, UofA Alumnus and a former Director of Extension a the University of Alberta and the Banff School of Fine Arts

One scholarship awarded annually on the basis of superior academic standing (equivalent to a GPA of 3.5 or greater) and research potential to a student registered full-time in a graduate degree program in either the Department of History and Classics or the Department of Political Science for the study of Canadian history or Canadian government and politics. In even-numbered years it will be awarded to a student in the Department of History and Classics and in odd-numbered years to a student in the Department of Political Science. In the event that a candidate cannot be found in the specified department, the scholarship may be either awarded to a student in the other department or not awarded that year.
Sir Guy Carleton Graduate Scholarship

Awarded annually on the basis of superior academic achievement to a full-time student in a graduate degree program in the Department of History and Classics engaged in research focusing on the contribution of ethnic cultures to Canadian history. Recipients must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

The recipient will be selected on the basis of superior academic standing. Preference will be given to a student conducting research that deals with Alberta history. Eleanor Luxton Historical Foundation Graduate Fellowship

Awarded annually to students registered full-time in an MA or PhD program in the Department of History and Classics for responsible historical research and publication in Western Canadian History and in the roles of the Luxton and McDougall families in Banff, the Bow Valley, and western Canada in the 19th and 20th centuries. Applicants registered in master's programs normally are eligible to hold this award once during the first two years of their program. Applicants registered in doctoral programs normally are eligible to hold this award once up to and including the fifth year of their program. The number of fellowships awarded will depend on the quality of the applications receive. Up to a maximum of three fellowships at the PhD level will be offered each year.

Jim Parker Memorial Scholarship
Endowed by June Parker, family and friends in memory of Jim Parker, who was instrumental in the establishment of the Archives at the University of Alberta, and who had an enduring interest in Western and Northern Canadian history

Awarded in even-numbed years for study in Western or Northern Canadian history and in odd-numbered years for study in archival administration or records management. In the event that a candidate cannot be found in the specified area, the scholarship may be awarded in the other area. Part-time students are eligible for this award.

The scholarship is intended to provide assistance for the recipients' research programs. Financial need may be taken into consideration.
Ivan Lysiak Rudnytsky Memorial Doctoral Fellowship in Ukrainian History and Political Thought
Endowed by Dr Alexandra Chernenko Rudnytsky in memory of her late husband, Dr Ivan Lysiak Rudnytsky, a long-time academic staff member of the University of Alberta

Awarded to a student in a doctoral program pursuing research in Ukrainian history and political thought. Applicants must have first-class academic standings (as defined by GFC), must have passed comprehensive examinations with first-class standing, and must show promise of producing high-quality, non-partisan scholarship. If no suitable doctoral candidate is available in any year the fellowship will not be awarded.
JR Schrumm Memorial History Prize
