Overview

Arts Work Experience (AWE) is a form of experiential learning that allows undergraduate students in Arts to integrate career related, paid work experience into their degree programs.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Open to: Students in the Faculty of Arts, and Bachelor of Arts programs in the Faculty of Native Studies, Campus Saint Jean and Augustana

  • Level: Undergraduate

Recognition + Compensation

  • Students do not receive academic credit for participating in work experience. Upon securing a work term, students are registered in a work experience course (WKEXP) which holds their status as a full-time student. Students receive a CR/NC (credit/no credit) so “Pass/Fail” on their transcript upon completion of their work term.
  • Students who complete 12-16 months of work experience will graduate with a notation on their degree parchment stating they completed the Arts Co-operative Education Program.
  • Work experience opportunities are paid.

Duration, Format + Location

  • Arts Work Experience has flexible options for undergraduate students to integrate academic and workplace learning, including: Arts Co-operative Education, Discipline Specific Internships and Individual Work Terms. The duration, format and location will vary depending on the opportunity.
  • Students can choose to complete 4, 8, 12 or 16 months of work experience with one or more employers, beginning in September, January or May.
