Escape to the UAlberta Campus for Fantasy Love in February:
Love's Labour's Lost at U of A Studio Theatre
Edmonton, AB - Escape from the winter blues for a little Shakespeare in the Parka this February,as U of A Studio Theatre mounts Love's Labour's Lost February 6 through 15 on the Timms Centre
for the Arts mainstage.
Augustana campus faculty member Kevin Sutley ('92 BFA Acting, '99 MFA Directing) guest directs this wacky comedy about fantasy love featuring the University of Alberta's graduating BFA acting class of 2014.
What interferes with your work and studies? In Love's Labour's Lost, Shakespeare blames sleep, food, and above all, sex. The King of Navarre and his three lords swear an oath to scholarship, vowing to adhere to a strict regimen of reading, writing, fasting and the avoidance of women for three years. But the arrival of the Princess of France and her entourage of party girls from the city has the men scrambling to find loopholes in the contract.
"This is fantasy love - like a vacation where you go away and forget about everything, so all these
possibilities happen. Four beautiful women meet four beautiful men in a beautiful place and, of course, love happens," says Sutley.
Evening performances of Love's Labour's Lost run February 6 through February 15, 2014 at
7:30 p.m. at the Timms Centre for the Arts (87 Avenue & 112 Street) on the University of Alberta North campus in Edmonton. There is a $5 preview Wednesday, February 5 at 7:30 p.m. There is no performance on Sunday, February 9. A matinee is scheduled for Thursday, February 13 at 12:30 p.m.
