Sexual Assault Centre Year End Report - We did it fearlessly!

23 December 2024

As 2024 comes to an end, I want to cast a look back at the last six months, over which time our truly superb and intrepid team at the Sexual Assault Centre has accomplished much together.

Some key highlights from the past six months include:

  • A feature of our work in Verna’s Vlog
  • Strong collaborations through numerous internal and external partner engagements
  • Successful recruitment for multiple staff positions
  • Staff retreats and team-building initiatives
  • Establishment of a steering committee and an advisory group
  • Grant applications to support our work
  • Support in the development and implementation of recommendations from the Canadian systems change consultancy, Possibility Seeds
  • Reviewed eight workstreams to structure and drive meaningful change

Some of the initiatives we will undertake in 2025 will include:

  • Integrating research into our service delivery
  • Merging the Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) policy with practice work at the centre
  • Reviewing and updating our policies and procedures
  • Developing strategic impact measurements to assess our progress
  • Relaunching our volunteer program
  • Exploring a student practicum program to support and expand our peer support initiatives

I am deeply awed and humbled by the unwavering support from our leadership, the SAC team and the entire campus community. Your commitment has been essential to our success.

As we approach the winter break, I want to wish everyone a peaceful and restful holiday season.

Sincerely,

Dunsi Strohschein
