Info for Instructors

Welcome to our page for instructors. Peer tutoring is available for undergraduate students. Our goal is to help you help your students build the writing skills they need to succeed in class and beyond. On this page, you can find information about our appointments and presentations. If you have a request or idea that is not mentioned on this page, reach out to us to see how we can help.

Class Presentations + Workshops

One of our peer tutors can visit your undergraduate class remotely for a general information session about our services or a presentation on one of several writing strategies.

We can:

  • Deliver short class presentations about our services for 5 to 15 minutes.
  • Deliver workshops on certain writing topics in 30 to 90 minute sessions.

To request a presentation or workshop for your undergraduate or graduate course, please complete our Presentations and Workshop Requests form.

Extra Credit + Special Projects

Some instructors require their students to meet with a peer tutor as part of an assignment or offer them extra credit for visiting. If you plan to offer extra credit for visiting, please contact us as early as possible so that we can arrange to accommodate your students.

If your students request it, we can provide proof of attendance. We can fill out forms; however, please ask your students to provide your email address to their tutors. That way, we can send you a confirmation email to let you know a student met with a peer tutor.

Help Your Students Make the Most of Their Visit

All writers can benefit from a second set of eyes. You can encourage your students to make the most of their appointment by:

  • Encouraging them to book appointments in advance. Our schedule fills up very quickly.
  • Asking them to visit us early in the writing process. We love to help with brainstorming and planning!
  • Letting them know to come prepared with specific questions or areas of concern to provide a focus for the tutoring session.
  • Sharing they may be able to book a drop-in appointment.
  • Remembering that the service is not a fix-it shop. Peer tutors cannot edit or write students' papers for them, nor can they guarantee a good grade. Tutors will, however, teach effective writing principles so your students become better writers.

Collaborate With Us

We want to hear from you. Collaborating with instructors is a great way to ensure that we're providing undergraduate students with the best service possible. Here are two easy ways you can get involved:

  • Mention us in your syllabus and encourage your students to visit.
  • Email us if you have questions about our services.
