Apprenticeship and Industry Training - Government of Alberta

The Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) branch of the Government of Alberta oversees the province’s apprenticeship and training system. The organization promotes workforce development through education, certification, and professional opportunities.
Notably, AIT offers the Blue Seal Program, which recognizes journeypersons who enhance their technical skills with business and leadership training for career advancement. The Achievement in Business Competencies (Blue Seal) Certificate is awarded to certified tradespeople who meet Alberta's industry standards. To qualify, individuals must continue their education in business and develop competencies that demonstrate their readiness for success in management, supervisory, and leadership roles.
An Achievement in Business Competencies (Blue Seal) Certificate for a certified tradesperson means that they have met Alberta’s industry standards, continued their business education and acquired competencies, and demonstrated their ability to succeed in management, supervisory, and other leadership roles.
Achievement in Business Competencies (Blue Seal) Certificate
The Achievement in Business Competencies (Blue Seal) Certificate has specific eligibility criteria for the number of hours of study and other required educational credentials. Please see Apprenticeship and Industry Training for more details.
