Omid Ardakanian receives the 2024 ACM SIGEnergy Rising Star Award

Professor Ardakanian receives the 2024 ACM SIGEnergy Rising Star Award for contributions to data-enabled optimization and learning-based control of smart grid, buildings, and energy systems.

6 June 2024

Omid Ardakanian receives the 2024 Rising Star Award from the ACM Special Interest Group on Energy Systems and Informatics (SIGEnergy) for his contributions to data-enabled optimization and learning-based control of smart grid, buildings, and energy systems. This award recognizes a young researcher who has made outstanding research contributions to the field of energy systems and informatics, within nine years of receiving her/his highest university degree. Depth, impact, and novelty of the researcher’s contributions were key evaluation criteria for this award.

ACM SIGEnergy brings together an inter-disciplinary group of computer scientists with diverse backgrounds in sensing, modeling, optimization, control, network and systems design, and experimentation to discuss and address key challenges in future energy systems, and their impact on society. It covers a broad range of topics in energy informatics, energy system design, analysis, and operation ranging from building energy management, renewable energy modeling and integration, energy storage system analysis, electric vehicle modeling and optimal operation, data-centre energy management, and energy impact on climate and society.
