Karim Ali awarded 2021 AITO Dahl-Nygaard Junior Prize

Karim Ali has been awarded the Dahl-Nygaard Junior Prize given by AITO (Association Internationale pour les Technologies Objets) during ECOOP 2021 virtually held in Aarhus, Denmark on July 11-17, 2021. 

The Dahl-Nygaard Junior Prize is awarded annually to a junior researcher who has made a promising contribution to the field through a paper, a thesis, or a protytpe implementation.

This is only the second time a researcher at a Canadian institution has ever received this award since its inception in 2005!

From the AITO website: "Karim Ali has significantly advanced the applicability of interprocedural analysis of object-oriented programs to practical software development tools.

With his work on sound partial program analysis, incremental analysis, and demand-driven analysis, he has shown several times that he is able to produce ground-breaking research with long-lasting impact. His research has redefined the way in which we conduct and will be conducting static analysis of object-oriented software."

AITO e.V. is the Association Internationale pour les Technologies Objets, a non-profit association registered in Kaiserslautern, Germany. The initial purpose of the Association was to promote the advancement of research in object-oriented technology, primarily in Europe, in particular through the organization of the annual European Conference on Object-Oriented Programming (ECOOP). Meanwhile the scope has been broadened to all aspects of practice and theory of programming languages, systems and environments, ranging the whole spectrum from novel ideas to evaluation of existing solutions.
