Molly Worthen is an assistant professor of history at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she teaches courses in the history of North American religious and intellectual life and global Christianity. Her most recent book, Apostles of Reason: The Crisis of Authority in American Evangelicalism (Oxford, 2013) tells the story of the intellectual civil war within evangelicalism since World War II, and the theological roots of today's political conflicts. She is also the author of The Man On Whom Nothing Was Lost: The Grand Strategy of Charles Hill (Houghton Mifflin, 2006). Worthen writes about religion and politics for the New York Times, Slate, and other publications. She received her PhD from Yale University in 2011.
