Pilot Program
for students from francophone minority communities (FMCSP)
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced a pilot program for students from francophone minority communities – the FMCSP program. Participants in the pilot will have access to settlement services during their studies and may be eligible for permanent residence soon after completing their studies.
If you are applying to come to Campus Saint-Jean under IRCC's Francophone Minority Student Pilot Program, please ensure that you are able to answer yes to each of the following questions.
- Is your application for admission to one of the following eligible programs at Campus Saint-Jean?
- Bachelor of Arts (4 years)
- Bachelor of Science (4 years)
- Bachelor of Education (elementary and secondary) (4 years)
- Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Science (5 years)
- Bachelor of Education after diploma (primary and secondary) (66 credits)
- Business Administration Technician (2 years)
- Early childhood education (2 years)
- Have you passed or will you complete, at the minimum required level*, one of the two French language tests accepted by IRCC?
- TEF Canada : Test d’évaluation de français
- TCF Canada : Test de connaissance du français
* Your results must demonstrate that your French language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) are at least level 5 on the Canadian Language Benchmarks scale
- Are you a citizen of one of the following countries?
Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo (DR), Congo (R), Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Gabo, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Niger, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Seychelles, Togo, Tunisia.
Americas: Dominica, Haiti, Saint Lucia
Middle East: Egypt, Lebanon
- Can you meet the financial requirements for Campus Saint-Jean tuition fees, depending on your program, and living expenses for yourself and accompanying family members in Canada?
- A deposit equivalent to the tuition fees for the first session (i.e. $9,821.80 for the bachelor's program, $7,556.40 for the TAA program and $9,823.07 for the CCA EPE program) must be paid before the university can issue the document accepting you into the PPECFSM pilot program. This deposit is refundable if the applicant is refused entry to the country.
- Cost of living requirement that must be met for a single applicant is $20,635/year and additional funds are required if accompanied by dependents, details here. University of Alberta Campus Saint-Jean students are required to meet the cost of living expenses listed under Group-A.
- Do you understand that the admission requirements for our programs are additional to those of the pilot program for students from French-speaking minority communities announced by IRCC, and that you must provide all documentation required for admission or your application will not be processed?
If you answered yes to each of the above questions, you are eligible for the Pilot Program for Students from Francophone Minority Communities announced by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
