What’s a fun fact about you that most people wouldn’t know?
I have been riding horses and competing in Barrel Racing competitions since I was five years old. From as little as I can remember and once I could start walking, I was riding horses with my mom and grandparents. I have been fortunate enough to win two saddles from competing and numerous other championships!
What’s your favorite way to spend a weekend or day off?
My favorite way to spend a weekend would be with my friends and dog having a game and movie night while sharing memories and stories of how our week went. Now, on those super cold -30/-40 nights, I would change my answer to warm sweats and a hoodie, on the floor with a blanket and my dog watching a nice movie and relaxing!
What’s a book, movie or TV show you’re currently enjoying?
I am currently in the process of watching ‘Reba’ with Reba McEntire. When I was younger, I would always catch little scenes of it while my mom was watching it. It turns out, it is very comforting to me right now. Although I am only on season two, I already feel like it will be added to my comfort show list!
Do you have a favorite meal or go-to comfort food?
I think my favorite go-to comfort food would have to be a bread and dip of some kind or a bread of some kind. I feel like a good crazy bread or bread and spinach dip goes a long way. Not to mention, it is a unanimous favorite if you ask me!
What inspires or motivates you the most in your day-to-day life?
As cliche as this may sound, my dog Finley motivates and inspires me the most. Since I’ve owned Finley, he has always been such a comforting support in my life and provided me with an outlet to relieve my stress and anything that may be bothering me.
Can you share a bit about your role and what brought you to the Alberta School of Business?
I came to the Alberta School of Business just under a year ago because I was looking for something more. Within the first day, it became undeniable how amazing everyone at the school is and how welcoming of an environment this is. I was extremely lucky to find my current recruitment and admissions assistant role. Within this role, I am responsible for helping with admissions and planning of different recruitment events that our office handles.
What’s been your most memorable moment at the Alberta School of Business so far?
My most memorable moment so far would have to be when the Master’s Office has my dog Finley come in for visits with students and staff members! With Finley being certified with CAAWLS organization, I am able to bring him in on designated days to help students with mental health and ways of relieving stress.
What’s one piece of advice you’d share with a new colleague joining the school?
I think everyone at ASB is so welcoming and kind. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better start with the U of A. When I first started with the office, I went on one-on-one chats with everyone else in the office and I truly believe that was the best thing that I could have done and I strongly recommend that for when anyone starts at the Alberta School of Business.
