Molecular Biology Facility (MBSU)
The Molecular Biology Service Unit (MBSU) is a central facility in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alberta, providing research support for a range of molecular biology techniques. Our goal is to provide access to equipment for experienced users and to provide a training environment in which researchers can acquire and use molecular biology techniques. Some of our services and equipment include:
- Standard Sanger DNA Sequencing
- Next Generation DNA Sequencing
- Ion Torrent PGM
- Illumina MiSeq Platform
- Illumina NextSeq Platform
- Quantitative Real Time PCR
The facility is for the primary use of Department of Biological Sciences. However, users from other departments and faculties may use the facility. See access rules for more information.
